What is the Eco Government Scheme?
ECO Government Scheme 2022 and Opportunities for You
ECO Government Scheme 2022 has now officially started and the good news is that property owners and private tenants around the UK who were initially denied grants before, can now be considered eligible for the upcoming ECO 4 grants.

Extended Funding per property available

The ECO3 scheme was a good success for the UK government but the ECO4 scheme is now set to push the boundaries with the introduction of installations such as air source heat pumps. Some ECO3 installs are still available to date but the Government has looked more closely at the energy efficiency of homes as a whole. Whereas previously, measures could be installed on an individual basis such as loft insulation or cavity wall insulation, now, we are required to look at the overall performance of a property so in order to qualify for the ECO funding, we potentially would need to install loft, cavity insulation and a condensing boiler as a whole job in order to qualify.

ECO Government Scheme: What is Priority

ECO installation of energy efficiency measures makes up about 7% of all households in the UK. 13% of these measures were installed in rural areas. The areas with the most grant approvals in previous ECO phases were the North West and North East, while Scotland and Wales take the 3rd and 4th spot. Wales approvals have now vastly improved with the understanding that a lot of properties are off the gas grid and require more attention to energy efficient installations such as solar panels and air source heat pumps.

ECO currently supports companies with high delivery rates in all areas of Wales but especially supporting those in the lower EPC bands requiring the most energy efficient installations to reduce the UK's carbon footprint. The government has developed a mapping tool that operates at a postcode level to further enhance its ability to target those requiring energy efficiency grants the most.
